Bose X Aviation Headset Repair Kit

Is your Bose X aviation headset broken? If not, it will be sooner or later. Bose used a type of plastic for the yokes that does not hold up well to UV radiation. Because of this, if you left your headset on top of the instrument panel in the sun, the plastic eventually just crumbles and you are left with a totally inop headset, relying on a backup or worse, cockpit radio and mic.

We designed these parts from scratch in 2015 after studying the existing replacement parts that were available and improving both the reliability and cost. Since then, we have sold tens of thousands to pilots all over the world on every continent, even Antarctica. Our design is often copied by unscrupulous overseas sellers and poorly reproduced with inferior manufacturing and materials. Rest assured, we are the original, tried and true designer and the only manufacturer of our products.

Choose standard if you keep your headset in typical conditions not exceeding 200ºF. This version is made with glass fiber reinforced nylon.

Choose high-temp if you keep your headset stored in the sun where temps can go up to 455ºF without damage. The high temp version is made from annealed PPS-CF composite material.

Both versions come with replacement stainless steel screws. Because Bose made a bunch of different versions of this headset, you cannot re-use the cord retention staples or brackets. Instead, route your existing cable inside the channel and secure with a single screw. If the cable outer insulation is disintegrating (likely) then it is suggested that you use a thin bead of silicone sealant over the wires after inserting into the channel to keep them intact. It is easiest to clamp the headset open on a tabletop with a couple spring clamps to make installation a breeze.
